Treatment for dog bites
Dog bites can be a very frightening injury to the child and family. After the bite has occurred and initial care is complete, there may be significant or visible areas on the body that are disfigured. The deformity may not be life threatening or impair function, but it might be life altering for a child. The doctors at Shriners Hospitals for Children — Cincinnati can improve the cosmetic result.
The goal of treatment is to maximize function and help children lead as normal a life as possible. Treatment will depend on the type of severity of the injury/defect.
Depending on the type of injury, the duration of treatment may include physical and occupational therapy to return the child to optimum functioning.
